Focused on the future
A strong community requires leadership that works for us.
Politics on the local level should stop once our elections are final and the work ahead is at hand. As your next City Councilor in the 3rd Ward, I vow to work with the city administration, all city councilors, community leaders and experts, and the business and nonprofit communities to identify the best measures to improve our community.
In my professional career in the community, I’ve spent many years working with people from all walks of life to build consensus, listening and understanding concerns and ideas for positive growth, and identify opportunities to convene support and collaboration that provides results. This was true when I served as a community organizer for education and rallied Evansville and Vanderburgh County voters to support the EVSC Strategic Plan. This effort led to multiple capital improvement and technology upgrade projects throughout the school corporation and increased the amount of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) courses that are vital to our future generations.
As Chief Deputy Treasurer of Vanderburgh County, I worked with a bipartisan group of elected officeholders to identify and implement technology upgrades and brought the office into the 21st Century. These efforts increased the capacity to serve residents of Vanderburgh County in their property tax needs, increased the work production of the office staff, and as a result, was able to decrease the overall office budget.
In my experience working development in the nonprofit sector, I’ve worked to raise awareness of community needs related to health, financial stability, education, and essential human services. Through these efforts at United Way of Southwestern Indiana and now at Tri-State Food Bank, I’ve been able to raise revenue through community collaboration that funds vital programming that better address many issues that burden our children, families, and seniors
As your next City Councilor in the 3rd Ward, I will always approach every opportunity to improve our community with an open mind and collaborative spirit. When those opportunities make sense for Evansville, you’ll see a champion and ambassador from me. When it doesn’t make sense, I’ll be your voice and work to ensure we don’t go down the wrong path.
